type='text'>Everyone says it

I can't believe how big he's gotten! He does big boy things like eat veggies in a high chair and roll over and over and over. He can get up on all fours and rock back and forth and he's not even 6 months old yet. I know he'll be crawling in the next few weeks. He laughs when something is funny and smiles when he see's something he likes. He loves his daddy and will sit and stare at him forever! He says big boy words like "gooonk" and "boomp" and lately he's been saying "mamamamama" a lot. He is getting shy and silly. He grabs for things like the remote and the dog and my hair. He won't lay still when I change his diaper or get him dressed. I have had to master changing him while he is on his tummy. What happened to my sweet little baby? Here are a few new pictures of my big boy. Each night Ryan and I talk about how lucky we are to have such a great little boy. We are so thankful that we ge to raise this little man! We have been so busy and the only time I am on the computer is when I'm nursing Cade which means I only have one arm free to type with. So here is a quick update... November went by so fast that I really don't even remember what happened :) I do know that we had Thanksgiving at our house. We are so blessed to have families that not only get along really well, but actually enjoy spending time together so Ryan and I have both of our parents, siblings, grandparents and my cousin Talena and her family over each year. It was 16 people in our small house, and it is always a great time. .. especially when the Kegorator is filled with home brew!

I tried to make the most of the month because it was my last month of maternity leave. I went back to work on December 1st. It has gone pretty well so far. I do know that I would never be a great stay at home mom, but I really miss Cade during the day. It has been hard to get used to those 7:10 am meetings on Thursday mornings! My dad stays with Cade on Mondays and the rest of the week he goes to a small in home daycare which has worked out great. Christmas was great this year. We spent the Christmas Eve at my parents house and Christmas Day at Ryan's parents house. It was the first Christmas since we have been married that we both truly enjoyed. In the past we tried to please everyone by sticking to old traditions and in the process ended up going back and forth between 4 different houses multiple times during the two days. I have felt extremely blessed to have this little guy to celebrate the holidays with. Ryan and I tried to get pregnant (and stay pregnant) for two years before we had Cade. I keep thinking about the saying happiness is not in having want you want, but in wanting what you have. That describes my life right now perfectly. I feel so blessed to have this sweet, busy little guy in my life!

Cade has been so busy! The first thing people say when they hold him is "wow! he is really strong!" He is always on the go and is semi mobile now. He is practically crawling already. He can get up on all fours for a couple seconds before he loses his balance. He does have the inch worm technique mastered though and he's not even 5 months old yet! He loves to stand and jump and roll over and over and over. Cade's newest interest is the dog. I have always wondered what their relationship will be like. I hope that they will be best buds because I know Sammy would love to have a little guy to tag along with around the neighborhood. Here are a couple of pictures and a video of their friendship.

This is Cade and Sammy at 1 week old. I love the look on Samps' face :)

Cade was about 6 weeks old in this picture and I'm pretty sure this is the fist time he saw Sampson. He was mesmorized by him. He layed his hand on Sammy's elbow and was so still. We had a very fun yet busy month of October. The first weekend we visited our good friends in Chelan. Chris Hughbanks was Ryan's room mate in college and his best man in our wedding. We decided to head to Leavenworth on Saturday for Octoberfest. Camisha, Pia and I headed over with the kids and the guys met up with us when they were done golfing. It was so fun! I highly recommend Octoberfest and we will be back next year. I'm really looking forward to not breastfeeding in public anymore :)

The next weekend was Susan's 60th birthday so we decided to go wine tasting in Walla Walla to celebrate. My parents and Ryan's parents and brother all met down there for some great wine and a very fun weekend. It was beautiful and they even rode their bikes around to a couple of the wineries.

The third weekend we went over to Herron Island which is east of Tacoma in the Puget Sound (I think). Ryan's aunt and uncle have a house on the island which is amazing! It was a fun, relaxing weekend and we both enjoyed getting to spend it with the fam. The car ride over was quite interesting. It is a long drive (about 6 1/2 hours) and I was a little nervous about how Cade was going to do. He did great. We only had to stop and feed him once, although, we did have a lot of spitting up and a big blow out all before we made it over the pass. He made the rest of the trip only wearing diapers because I was tired of changing him. Ryan's grandpa, cousins and aunt and uncle were all up at the beach house. We got to meed Heather and Erik's son Koen for the first time who is about 2 months older than Cade. They all also got to meet Cade.

The fourth weekend my aunt Debbie and Uncle Steve came over from Kent. They had never met Cade before. We had a great weekend with lots of family. On Sunday we took them up to Greenbluff before they headed home. My uncle said it was nice to see "classic americana" lol. They had a good time and Cade got to pick out his first pumpkin.

Ryan's birthday was on the 28th and he decided he wanted to go to Flaming Joes for dinner to watch the Yankees play. Ryan's mom came as well as my family. We had a great time and topped the evening off with a delicious home made golf course cake!

The fifth weekend was Halloween. On Friday night Ryan and I dressed up as my dad and headed over to the Naslunds. We borrowed his coveralls and Ryan wore a mullet wig (my dad has NEVER had a mullet) and I wore the mead tennis hat (classic Bill attire). We had a great time, although I feel like I am fortunate to be alive because I'm not sure how my parents ever conceived any kids after wearing his coveralls. They were SOOOOO tight in the crotch! I'm only 5'9 and my dad is 6'1. I can't image what they feel like on him :) On Saturday I was so excited to dress Cade up in his little monkey outfit. He was so cute when I first put it on him that I almost cried a little. He is such a sweet little guy, but he didn't like his costume very much. He is a hot baby and started sweating as soon as we put it on him. We took him to visit his grandmas and grandpas and then spent the evening with the Mills' and had soup. It was a great way to spend Halloween.

Babys and Booze. My favorite part about this picture is that the security guard took it for us :)

Ryan wanted a bavarian family picture so he handed Cade to this lady and before I knew it we were all posing with this group of dancers. She was so excited to be holding a baby and told Ryan "I hope you know that you just gave a baby to a grandma and I'm going to have a tough time giving him back" She was pretty cute and a heck of a good dancer!

Pia with Jensen and Ryan with CadeThis picture says a thousand words... but I bet only Camisha and Pia know what I'm talking about...

Cade and his buddy Jensen. Jensen is about 3 weeks younger than Cade. Next summer will be so fun with the two of them.

Cade and I were both thirsty. Never thought I'd be the type to just plop down on a bench and nurse with a beer in my hand. Thank goodness for the hooter hider to preserve a little of my modesty.

Brynn and Cade. He is aware of what is going on around him and who is around him. It is so fun to watch him grow and change from day to day! I feel so lucky to get to stay home with him for these 4 months. I am dreading the day I have to go back to work even though it is still two months away! I am trying to take advantage of my time off and really enjoy our time together. We go for lots of walks and have lots of visitors!

If you haven't noticed, a lot of pictures are taken on his changing table. He loves it! He will be fussy and I'll put him on the table and he'll just relax and hang out. His name is on the wall and I painted the letters dark grey and he loves to look at them! I guess they're pretty funny too!!!

I love this picture. Ryan decided to have his own little photo shoot with Cade one day. He is wearing the funniest outfit that Cole's mom gave us. It has matching shorts with sharks all over them. We have started calling him "shark bait" after this outfit. I think it might stick:)

Cade loves when his Grandma comes to visit! Cade has been so fun to have around. We are exhausted most of the time, but loving every minute of it. He is doing great. He weighs about 9 lbs now and is quite the character. I have never heard anyone grunt so much! I have also never seen anyone spit up and sneeze at the same time :) Slowly but surely we are adjusting to life with a newborn. Our family and friends have been so supportive and helpful. I'm not sure what we would do without them!Sampson loves his little brother! I didn't wet my pants

Needless to say I have been hot, tired, and uncomfortable for sometime now. I have been extremely blessed to have a healthy pregnancy, but I am definitely not one of those people who love being pregnant. On Monday Ryan came home from work around 4:30 and I was reading a book in the nursery sitting in the rocking chair. He came in and said hi and started to tell me about his day. He said something that made me laugh and it made me wet my pants... or so I thought! The weird part was that I didn't laugh super hard. Somewhere in the back of my mind I had the thought that maybe I was lucky enough to have my water break. I called the hospital and they told me to come in and get checked out. Ryan and headed off to the hospital where they confirmed that my water did break. I was sooooo excited because that meant I didn't have to be pregnant anymore, not to mention get to meet my little guy soon. I couldn't wait. When we got to the hospital I was dilated to a 3 so they admitted me and then we waited to see if my body would go into labor on its own. Slowly but surely it did, but by 4:30 am I still wasn't in a very regular labor pattern so they put some pitocin in my IV. By 11:30am I was ready to push. I pushed and pushed and pushed, but by 2:30 still hadn't made any progress. The big unit was stuck! The doctor said time for the c section and off we went. It took them a good 20 minutes to get him unstuck from my pelvis. It was a little scary for a while because all I could hear was people grunting and say "wow! He's really stuck!" At 3:40 pm Caden John Pugh was born. He was 8lbs 2 oz and 20.5" He is wonderful and amazing and perfect in everyway. Ryan and I couldn't be more in love with him. After this whole experience I am so thankful for my amazing family that stuck by us through the whole pregnancy and difficult delivery. It was so nice to have so much support during one of the most difficult, yet amazing days of my life. I am also so thankful to have such a wonderful husband. Ryan was so strong for me during the whole delivery and stayed by my side supporting me the whole time. He is also such a wonderful dad. Cade is so blessed to have such a great dad who cares about him so much.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366945903643234226" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; He has accomplished so much in his 32 years of teaching and I know it has a great time in his life. Although it was bittersweet for him to say goodbye I know he will really enjoy retirement. He told us at first that he didn't want any kind of party because "it would be like going to his own funeral". How sad! We talked him into a retirement BBQ and asked him if he would like to go on some kind of family vacation instead and he said "I guess so..." Well if you know my dad at all he loves the out doors and whenever any of us kids borrow any camping gear he gets EVERYTHING out and messes around with it in the drive way for a couple of hours. He really really loves his camping toys. Soooo we decided to go camping . The only weekend we were all free was over the fourth and since there weren't any camping spots available in our country we headed up to our friendly neighbors to the north. CANADA! God's country!

Scotty, Ryan and Sampson taking in Kokanee Creek. Yes I am still anticipating that he will be the next big unit... I was so excited to find out the sex just so I could decorate the nursery. I bought all of my bedding the day after we found out it was a boy and I had to wait clear until yesterday before we got our crib. We were fortunate enough to have family that had a glider and a crib among a ton of other great stuff. We have also had quite a few friends give us some pretty nice things that they weren't using anymore. I really can't believe how much stuff one little guy needs. Although, I'm sure he really doesn't need most of the things we have for him, but I'm sure it will come in handy and I'm sure he will be so thankful that his bedding is from Potterybarn Kids.

Sampson loves his new bedroom and rug!

It is most definitely still a work in progress. I bought an old dresser yesterday that I am going to refinish and use as a changing table. I felt very awkward as you can see by the pictures. Everyone keeps telling me that I will enjoy looking back on them later on in life... I'll have to let you know. Everything has still being going great. I am 29 weeks now and we are both very healthy and growing more and more every day. We do have a name picked out but decided to keep it a secret until he is born. We have both done a great job of not telling anyone so far. Most people have done a good job of just being patient and not trying to guess too much. Just a word of warning... if you ask too much we might just throw a fake name at you. My 4th period sports medicine class thinks his name really is going to be Jamal Lamaj Pugh :) I told them I really like palindromes.

Thought you would enjoy an action shot!

Pine Acres Torrey Pines

Ryan was in <del>Whales Vagina</del> San Diego this past week at a conference for work. We always park by the nordstroms elevator at River Park Square because there are usually spots available over there. We found a spot right away by the door so we parked and got into the elevator. We were about 5 yards behind the people getting on in font of us and they kindly held the door so we could get on. As I stepped on I noticed that two of the four people looked very familiar. At first I thought it was some parent that I had seen around school, but I knew that I had seen them somewhere else and then it hit me... It was Ali and Betty Sue from The Biggest Loser! I was so excited but decided to play it cool. I just smiled and said thanks and got on. I was so nervous. I couldn't decide what to say to them, so I chose to not say anything and just try sneak sideways glances. I'm sure I wasn't obvious at all... I could tell that they knew we recognized them and it was almost like they expected us to say something, but what can you say??? I really just wanted to enjoy the moment. Looking back now, I would really like to know what they were doing at the mall... maybe they were going to Subway? I didn't have a camera with me or even my phone, but fortunately Ryan was able to get this shot of them before they got off on the first floor.

They both still look amazing. Ali is super muscular. You would never ever guess that she lost all that weight. Betty Sue looks good too. She didn't ever lose as much as Ali, but I don't think she has gained any of the weight back. I can't remember ever being so close to anyone so famous, it was so exciting! Ryan and I have been Biggest Loser fans since the first season and now I can say that I know someone on the Biggest Loser!

The Big Unit

So for some reason lately I have been reflecting on my passion for the Mariners during the late 90's. I can almost name all of the starters during the My oh My season ('95) which I think is pretty good for a girl. A couple of days ago Ryan and I came across the division series in '97 on FSN and the Big Unit just happened to be pitching. He really was a glorious pitcher not only because he is a talented athlete but also because of his mullet and mustache. So cool. It brought back a warm fuzzy feeling to see the M's win the division in the Kingdome.

Yesterday we had another ob appointment. I was really excited for it because we got to discuss the results of our last ultrasound that we had a couple of weeks ago. Our doctor said that everything looks completely normal and healthy which was such a relief to me. Then there was the question about size. We found out he is above the 95th percentile for size and weight. I temporarily panicked and begged him not to let me go all the way to my due date, then I realized that there could be some positives to having a giant kid. I told this to my doctor and he said "I'm glad you think that because there really isn't anything we can do about it" How reassuring of him... I immediately thought of the big unit. I could have a son as cool as Randy Johnson. I don't want everyone to be jealous out there because I know it is every mothers dream to give birth to a little Randy so I will try not to rub it in. Grandpa Terry guessed that we were going to have a 6'4 blonde girl with a unibrow... he might be wrong about the girl and the unibrow... hopefully :)

P.S. Ryan told me that I can't call him the big unit... so I guess I'll stick with Juan.

Juan?

Here are some pics as promised. I can't help but already love him to death. These are the cutest ultrasound pictures I have ever seen. He even has a cute ding dong! I promise I will show you a belly picture soon. I'm just not quite ready yet. I am still at the awkward phase :) I guess I was on FSN on saturday working the state basketball game so if you happened to be at the Red Lion BBQ or were at the game you saw the gut. I am a little jealous that Pia still looks normal and I have a poodge but what can you do. Let's just hope he's worth it!

So this one is kind of blurry... but this is the money shot. The ultrasound tech saw this and said "Yep, that's a boy!" The arrow is pointing to his who ha.

I had to add this picture because I love it so much. Ryan is going to be such a great uncle to little Juan. He is so great with kids and dogs. Every time he comes over to our house he plays with Sammy right away before he does anything else. He even helped me give Sammy a bath at the Yuppy Puppy, which was a very traumatic experience for all of us I think. I can't wait to have him babysit! I just know the two of them will have a special relationship.

It's been awhile...

Sorry it's been so long since I have posted anything. Life has been busy. I am still working on my masters degree while teaching, working basketball and coaching tennis. Also, there wasn't really anything to post about :) After recieving a few complaints about not updating regularly and finally having some news to post it is time to update the blog! So here goes...

It's a boy!!! I am so excited!!! It was a defining moment in my life where I knew that my life was going to change forever... and for the better of course. We didn't tell our family that we were having the ultrasound done and finding out the sex because we wanted it to be a surprise. We decided that we were going to make a t-shirt for Sampson to wear to tell everyone whether it was a boy or girl. Just so you know I don't normally dress my dog up even though he does get really excited about it. I guess you have to love your dog anyway, even if he is a little metro. After a little poking and proding during the ultrasound we finally got him to roll over so we could see "it" and he is definitely a boy no question about it. For those of those wondering (and I am only clarifying this because I know people are wondering) my dog does have small genitalia, especially for his size, but that doesn't mean that my son will as well. Hopefully that will clarify any confusion. Here are a few pics of us sharing the big news.

We do have a name picked out for him but we are going to keep a secret, but I will tell you his last name will be Pugh. When people don't know I am pregnant I always catch them staring at my belly for awhile. It is really funny for me to keep them guessing so I never say anything. He really is one of my best friends and here are a couple of reasons why. Every day when I get home he is so excited to see me. You would think he just won a million dollars. It doesn't matter how long he has been alone in the house or if he got in trouble in the morning. Each day when I get home he is just as excited to see me as he was the day before. He rears up on his hind legs when he is happy about something and we call them "Hi Ho Silvers". It is his way of showing us that he is pleased. Another think I love how he is still a puppy sometimes even though he is almost 4. He gets joy out of the most simple things in life. We also snuggle every night at about 7:30. Ryan says that if we have a boy I am not allowed to snuggle with him because it will give him "a complex" so I'm glad Sampson is around :)

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v19.nonxt4.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D9fb5228deaca9035%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331590525%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D8372D82B5B7A5A6B999C35C4D2001571116DEF78.1FA68783F72FB8B5390A635C0653F801DF34B211%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D9fb5228deaca9035%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DIXS9DNXNGtpF27jdbcvCI38KUGM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

This is a video of Sampson greeting me when I got home from work. I thought it was pretty funny.

Bun in the Oven!!!

We are so excited to finally have a healthy, normal pregnancy! We are due August 15th and everything is going great so far. We both couldn't be happier and can't wait to be parents. Sampson is also very excited to be a big brother and help clean up the spit up and the floor. Ryan and I decided to jump on the band wagon and start a blog to share pictures and stories of all of the changes that are going on around our house. I am so excited about these pictures because we had our first ultrasound on Christmas Eve and although it was a great ultrasound because we got to see a heart beat for the first time, the baby just kind of looked like a slug :) It is amazing to see that it turned into a baby in three short weeks! Here are a few of our favorite pictures.

My mom said that it looks kind of lumpy in this picture. Poor little kid!

I love this picture because you can see it's foot and all of it's little tootsies!

It was dancing all around during the ultrasound and it also measured 5 days ahead of schedule.
